Market Research & Strategy

Historical market data, scenario ranges and risk context, delivered as a written brief.

Research desk with books and charts

Scope

The brief pulls historical data, normalises it, describes the range it has moved in, and identifies the drivers. Sources are cited in the output.

Coverage: Australian equities, interest rates, residential property, and the major cross-border asset classes affecting Australian portfolios. Outside that range, the firm refers to a specialist.

Basis

The briefs are retrospective and descriptive. They do not include forecasts, ratings or buy/sell calls; the licensed team on the client side supplies the interpretation.

Common questions about research briefs

Will your brief tell us whether to buy or sell?

No. We describe what the data shows, the range markets have historically moved in, and what tends to drive them. We do not issue ratings, price targets or buy/sell recommendations. If your question is really a personal investment decision, we will tell you so and refer you to a licensed adviser.

Which markets and asset classes do you cover?

We focus on Australian equities, interest rates, residential property, and the major cross-border asset classes that affect Australian portfolios, primarily USD, EUR and CNY exposure and global rates. If a question falls outside that range, we say so rather than stretch an answer.

How long does a research brief take?

A standard brief is delivered within one to two weeks of scoping. Larger cross-asset reviews can run three weeks. You receive a short written document with sources cited, suitable to share with your board or your external advisers.

Can the brief be shared externally or with our board?

Yes. The document is written to be forwarded. We cite sources and separate observed fact from our own commentary, so a board or an external adviser can read it without context from us.

Do you produce forecasts or outlook pieces?

No. Every brief is retrospective and descriptive. We explain what has happened and why, and where the data has historically broken down. We do not predict prices, and we do not publish market-outlook commentary.
